During the British occupation of Sri Lanka In the 19th Century, the British constructed the railway lines and started the Railway service in Sri Lanka to transport Tea from the Hill country estates to the Colombo Port and also imported goods to the interior of the Island. Sri Lanka’s hill country Railway line goes through Tea Estates, making the train journey a scenic ride. This itinerary is specially designed for Rail fans who would like to explore the Sri Lankan railway.

Today you will journey to Trincomalee by Train. You will transfer to the hotel in Trincomalee where you will have the rest of the day to be spent at leisure , Situated around picturesque bays and rocky peninsulas, Trincomalee is famed for its spectacular white sand beaches.

After Breakfast at the hotel and sightseeing tour in Trincomalee.
In the afternoon enjoy a boat ride to Pigeon Island. You have the option for diving, snorkeling and sea bathing.

After Breakfast you will leave for the ancient city of Pollonnaruwa .It was made capital after the fall of Anuradhapura in 993 BC. Here you will witness the famed monumental ruins of the famous garden city created by King Parakramabahu in the 12th century. The most significant being the Library Monastery, The Citadel and the palace complex. Then Proceed to Habarana.

Proceed to Sigiriya Rock fortress after breakfast. Climb the Rock fortress of Sigiriya. Then visit to the misty hill country of Kandy via Matale where you can find spice gardens.

After breakfast leave for a City Tour including the Upper Lake Drive - a place where one could have a bird's eye view of the city below, the Royal Botanical Gardens , a Gem Museum - to see how the valuable gems that you see on a shop shelf are turned out from a raw stone with the back ground history. In the evening watch a Cultural Performance by traditional Kandyan Dancers and Drummers.

Today you will depart for the cooler highlands of Nuwara-Eliya by Train, most popular hill resort. Nuwara Eliya is also the heart of Sri Lanka’s tea country producing a significant share of the world best tea. Sri Lank’s highest mountain Pidurutalagala (8282 feet) is located here, also has one of the finest 18 hole golf courses in South Asia. Check in to the hotel & relax.

After breakfast proceed to Kandy. En route visit a tea plantation and a tea factory.

After Breakfast you will depart to the Colombo by Train. Join a midday city tour of Colombo; which will give you a glimpse of Colombo’s architecture, art and culture. You will be brought back to your hotel at the conclusion of your city tour.

After Breakfast you will leave for Sri Lanka’s most prominent national park of Yala. The park is home to elephants, leopards, bears, monkeys, peacocks, crocodiles, samba deer and wild boar. The area consists of shrub, grassy plains, light forests, and lagoons. In the afternoon commence a jeep safari in the Yala National Park by private jeep accompanied by a tracker.

Today you will be transferred to the beautiful coastal city of Galle. Once you arrive in Galle you will be taken on a city tour. The area still retains much of its old world charm of the colonial period. The coast is lines with lovely boutique hotels and restaurants. The Galle fort is the absolute treat of Galle. Take a stroll down its old pebble stoned alleys lines with colonial style buildings and houses.

Today you will have the entire day to spend at leisure by the beach in Galle. Take in a tour of the Dutch fort and shop for some trinkets to take back home. Galle is home to the world famous Galle literary festival and was a former Dutch and British stronghold with its cobble stone paths and quirky cafes this boho chic town should not be missed.

After Breakfast you will leave for the Galle railway station for your departure train to Colombo. You will be transferred from the Colombo Railway station to your hotel and relax the rest of the day.
